So you are hearing the buzz words “VA” – “Virtual Assistant” – “Virtual Business Manager” and etc and you know your business could benefit from virtual support, but are you REALLY ready to hire a virtual assistant?
Each entrepreneur and small business is different and will be ready at different times, however here are some common questions I ask during my discovery calls to find out if they are ready for a virtual assistant.
Do you find the day is shorter than your to-do list and you are missing out on great opportunities?
Sure, this happens to us some of the time, we overscheduled our day or something unplanned occurs in your day and you have only crossed one item off your to-do list.
But, if this is an ongoing occurrence, then it is either time to 1. Scale back your priorities or 2. Delegate some of those tasks to a virtual assistant

How do you feel about the saying “spending money to make money” logic?
One of the biggest factors that determines if you are ready to hire a VA is your return on investment. One the easiest ways to determine if the investment will pay off is to compare hourly rates.
What is your current hourly rate at the moment? Not sure? Try this..
Amount of income you earn % by how many actual hours you work per month = your actual hourly rate
If your hourly rate is $85 an hour does it make sense for you to be spending hours in areas that are not revenue producing or your passion? Probably not. But, it does make sense to hire virtual support.
If you have more FREE time to work in your business then you will make MORE money! And, that is a great return on investment.

Do you have defined needs in your business?
One of the mistakes entrepreneurs make when outsourcing work is that they are expecting a virtual assistant to be a “jack of all trades” and unless you are ready to pay a pretty penny, that is not going to happen!
It is important that before you begin to search for a VA you have outlined the specific areas and tasks that you are ready to outsource.
Sit down and make a detailed list of tasks you would like to hand over. In this list include all of the additional steps within the task and the objective for each.
Are you ready to let go?
Sure, it sounds simple.. Hand over the task list and let your VA do their work. Right? Not so much. I am an entrepreneur like you and I understand how difficult it can be to allow someone control in your business.
Even though it may be difficult at first, your business will begin flourishing and you will become ultra-productive. Whether you are hiring a VA to shorten your to-do list or because they are not in your wheelhouse it will enable you to focus on other areas.
Once you realize you are ready to hire a VA then you should follow a process to get your business ready, do not hop on a Facebook group and start asking for recommendations that may back-fire. Sure you may be ready but are you prepared?
