growth in business

A lot of changes happened this year in my business. For 2017, my action word was GROWTH. This was the first full year I was running my business as, marketing myself, creating my own business plan and controlling my own schedule. As opposed to working as a subcontractor for other businesses.

I had a ton of goals and they all focused on GROWTH as a business and a business owner. The biggest and most exciting piece of growth is that we are now officially ‘OFFICIAL’!

We finally finished all of the steps to become an LLC a few months ago. And, to be honest, that was one of the scariest things I have steps of growth for me this year.

Crossing off my a few self-limiting beliefs and moving forward has enabled me to leap over some other hurdles as well.Click To Tweet

2017 was also the first year that I went “full-time” in my business!

2017 also marks the year that I retired my husband from his soul-sucking corporate job to build our business together!

2017 means we hired a few subcontractors (and great friends) to our team!

2017 means I learned how to truly invest in myself and my business in order to move forward.

Here are a few things I have learned in 2017 in order to make it a success, and plan on implementing in 2018 as well.

1. Plan out the day the night before. ( I also do this every Sunday evening)

This simple task allows me to wake up and know what the days goals and objectives are. This also allows me to work on what is actually important for my goals and my business instead of spending time in other areas getting distracted by #allthethings.

2. Mindset is EVERYTHING!

This is the most difficult piece of being an entrepreneur. Your mindset and how you allow yourself to think and react to your day and situation is truly the foundation of any successful business.

I had a fantastic client send me my first personal development book, Jen Sincero’s “You are a Badass” and it revolutionized the rest of the year.

2018 I will be reading 1 personal development book per month. You can check out the books I will be reading in 2018 here. Once I complete a book I will add my personal review.

3. Do the work you love and are passionate about.

If I was listing these in order, this one would probably be number one! I started out 2017 (business wise) in a different place than I am now. I thought I could do #allthethings for each client. I narrowed down and was only working with my ideal clients but I was completing tasks that I just didn’t enjoy.

And, that is not why I started this business. I started my business to work in the areas that I am passionate about and with the clients that light me up as well.

Towards the end of 2017, I narrowed down the services to only offer those that I love and still help my clients simplify + automate their biz.

4. Automate and develop processes as much as possible.

Because, hello, who wants to manually do certain pieces of work if there are systems out there that can do it for you. This past year, I focused on learning all sorts of systems and platforms and figuring out the ways I can utilize them in my business and my clients to create ease in their processes.

This growth and learning will continue throughout this year since new programs are constantly coming out and the current systems are always adapting.

5. Always do the “things” that scare you!

Not much scares me in general. But, videos, webinars, in-person networking — they scare me! Although, I did host a few webinars and I survived (mostly) this year I will be challenging myself even more to do these sort of things.

In fact, my word for 2018 is VISIBILITY.

2017 was amazing — and I know 2018 has more amazingness in store!

What about you? What have you learned from 2017?
